I already have a maintenance agreement. Now what?

Table of contents:

Congratulations! You already have a

lift maintenance service agreement

in your community with General Elevadores... Now what?
That´s why we are here, to deal with any doubts, suggestions or problems you might encounter in your community.

To this end, we have created a series of potential problems that we will be delighted to deal with immediately. However, before we start we would like to remind you once again of what lift maintenance consists of:

1. What does lift maintenance consist of?

Lift maintenance is based on the execution of routine inspections (mandatory by law in Spain), in addition to any repairs when necessary. In turn, the tasks inherent to lift maintenance include cleaning, lubricating and greasing the different parts of the equipment.

If you would like further information on this topic, access our first post "Lift maintenance. Everything you need to know".

2. Data you need to be familiar with in relation to your agreement.

Once you have entered into your community lifty maintenance contract with us, we are sure you will have a number of questions. Don´t worry! We are here to help you with everything you need. There follows a list of frequently asked questions in relation to the hiring of our services.

- What does the monthly lift inspection entail?
As you well know, every month, one of our technicians will inspect your lift and check the most essential aspects such as the operational and safety systems, the emergency alarm system, the door opening and closing system...

- Every three months...
Our technicians will be entrusted with cleaning the lift pit. But that's not all, as they will also check the motor oil and the brake system, among other tasks.

- Every six months...
Our technicians will pay you a six-monthly visit to check the functioning and cleanliness of the cabin doors, and to conduct a general inspection of the control panels and safety systems.

Moreover, our technicians will check the state of the emergency light.

- And finally, once a year...

A year into the lift maintenance agreement in your community, our technicians will conduct a general inspection of all the essential features in the lift that have not been inspected previously: for example, the cabin fastening system, the fall arrest system and the joints, among others.

3. Situations you might encounter.

When your community has a lift, a series of circumstances or situations can arise that, at first, may generate a lot of uncertainty. We at General Elevadores strive to deal with any issue that might arise and to provide you with the pertinent answers:

- What happens if my lift breaks down at the weekend?
Absolutely nothing! General Elevadores will always look out for you. We provide a 24/7 service 365 days a year. Breakdown calls will be dealt with Mondays to Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and our rescue and emergency service is available 24 hours a day.

N.B: You will not be charged extra for the visits paid to provide this service.

- What happens if I get stuck in the lift?
The first thing you need to do is to keep calm. The lift is safe even when it has come to a halt. We are aware of people´s phobias, but the best advice we can give you in such a situation is not to get distressed. If this happens, you will need to press the alarm button.

Many lifts have an alarm button with two-way intercom system. If this is your case, the lift itself will call the emergency telephone number.

If you don't have an intercom system, there is still no need to worry! There is an emergency phone in the cabin, so you can call without any problem. In the event there is no telephone coverage, we suggest you keep pressing the alarm button until one of your neighbours arrives and calls the emergency number.

- You may also be wondering... is there any chance a lift that has come to a halt will fall?
Relax! This is almost impossible. This is due to the fact all lifts are fitted with fall arrest safety systems. If your lift stops, keep calm and dispel any alarming thoughts.

- I´ve been told about Periodic General Inspections. How often are they conducted?
The frequency of Periodic General Inspections will vary in accordance with the type of lift. If your lift is installed in a building for industrial or public use, this inspection will be conducted every two years; if the lift is installed in buildings with more than 20 residences or more than four floors, it will be conducted every four years; and finally, all lifts not included in any of the previous categories will undergo a Periodic General Inspection every 6 years.

General Elevadores will inform you in advance of when this inspection is due.

We hope that many of the questions you have been asking yourself have been answered now you have read this article. If you still have doubts, please share them with us on our social networks or write to us asking for everything you need.

We at General Elevadores look forward to hearing from you.
