Why do we celebrate Safety Day...every day?

1. Introduction.

At General Elevadores, like you, we know that the values of other celebrations (such as Christmas) should not be a one-day thing. We must apply them every day. That is why we carry the value of dafety deep inside us and we put it into practice in everything. Want to know how we do it? Then make yourself comfortable and let’s get started.

2. Let’s take a look at some history.

It all started with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2003. Their idea was to promote an awareness day, with the aim of promoting worldwide the prevention of health damage caused by accidents or illnesses arising from work.

Since then, all the institutions in the world that work to prevent occupational risks organise activities every 28 April. The themes they use vary from year to year and depend on the sector. In this work, there is a responsibility shared by all: professional associations, companies, government bodies, etc.

3. But how do we apply this philosophy every day?

At General Elevadores, our staff members are governed by four pillars of safety:

1. Health surveillance: At our company, we recognise that the installation and maintenance of lifts involves a number of inherent risks. It is crucial that our team is in optimum health to stay alert and avoid accidents, both for their own safety and that of the users. We ensure that our employees are physically and mentally prepared to face the challenges of their work, thus contributing to a safer and more productive working environment.

2. Safety equipment: For us, providing up-to-date safety equipment is our priority at the start of a working day. For this reason, we carry out regular inspections of the equipment before work begins. We also assign dates throughout the year to replace them, ensuring that the equipment is always in optimum condition.

3. Raising awareness of occupational risks: Awareness of occupational risks is fundamental in preventing accidents and injuries. We promote safety awareness in all stages of our employees, from recruitment to the execution of their work.

4. Prevention training: As part of our corporate culture, we provide regular training in accident prevention techniques and emergency procedures, ensuring that our staff members are prepared to act safely and effectively in any situation.

And our entire safety philosophy is always inherited by our products. Like our lifts, for example, which are equipped with multiple safety systems. To find out what to consider when installing and maintaining them, click on this article.
