Accessibility solutions:

Platform lifts

We at General Elevadores are fully aware of the importance of eliminating architectural barriers from people´s day-to-day routines. There is a wide range of solutions on the market designed to solve this issue, rendering rooms increasingly accessible. For example, a front door with a flight of stairs right behind it can be a huge problem for someone with reduced mobility or a disability. Platform lifts have been designed to overcome this difficulty.

What is a platform lift?

Platform lifts can also be referred to as inclined stair lifts or vertical lifts. This platform serves as a lifting system designed to enable people in wheelchairs and users with reduced mobility to deal with a flight of stairs without any problems.

What are the different types of platform lift?

There are two types of platform lift: vertical lifts and stair lifts. We at General Elevadores will now explain the differences between them:

- Vertical Lifts:

Vertical lifts are designed for short journeys, moving vertically as the name suggests - like passenger lifts. The installation of a vertical lift requires a specific area for the pit or shaft.

General Elevadores has a series of models adapted to every need within this category of vertical lifts. For example, we ourselves manufacture the Domovil model, which complies with the most rigourous quality and safety standards and operates in a smooth and reliable manner. We also have a semi-cabin platform lift, our shaftless model, which is a good alternative if your priority is for the lift not to take up too much space. Finally, we have 1.8-metre, 3-metre and 10-metre vertical platform lifts, which help take full advantage of the space available.

- Platform stair lifts:

Platform stair lifts, unlike vertical lifts, run along the entire length of the staircase on permanently installed rails. They feature a base that is adapted to the wheelchair or to articulated arms or guiderails.

General Elevadores has two types of platform in this category: straight section and curved section models. You can choose either one or the other in accordance with the type of stairs in question.
